A Cozy Guide To Millcreek

My best friend and I decided to be tourists in our own state and headed to Millcreek for the day. Recently, I saw a boutique on TikTok that I had to check out, but once we arrived, we realized there were a few other local spots all within walking distance of each other.
So, whether you’re an actual tourist or a local looking to support small businesses, lock in and add these Millcreek gems to your bucket list. We truly loved every stop.
For Shopping
These three shops are absolutely adorable and located just minutes from each other. If you’re planning a girls’ day, a casual solo stroll, or even a gift-shopping adventure, this area is a must.
La Vie En Rose
Bonjour, friend, are you ready to step into Paris? If you love the Parisian aesthetic, florals, and all things girly and pink, this boutique is MADE for you.
La Vie En Rose also doubles as a café, offering pastries, espresso, sodas, and other sweet treats, which makes it an even more perfect stop. It’s ideal for finding a gift for the girly girl in your life, or for a treat-yourself moment.
I picked up a book of affirmations for my apartment, while my bestie (who leans more girly) grabbed the cutest bow hairpiece. Such a charming spot.
Retro Betty
Right next door to the Paris-themed shop is Retro Betty, a boutique that instantly transports you back in time. This store is packed with fun gifts, home décor, items for pet parents, and of course, adorable vintage-style clothing.
You can snag an all-things–Ryan-Gosling book, or do what I did and secure the cutest pair of overalls. Other cute stuff I found included a pickle purse, fun socks for men, games, and genuinely hilarious stickers.
While La Vie En Rose leans towards the more feminine side, Retro Betty has something for everyone. Both shops also carry local SLC items, making them perfect stops if you love supporting small & local businesses.
The Old Flamingo
Now, the other two shops leaned more toward gifts and clothing, but The Old Flamingo is in a category of its own. This spot is filled with antiques, furniture, vintage finds, and so much more. I could genuinely spend hours wandering through the shop, looking at all the little trinkets, some beautifully vintage, others handmade by local artists and business owners.
I scored a Stevie Nicks sticker from a local artist and a constellation globe that lights up… talk about a huge win. The thrift gods truly blessed me that day.
So whether you’re in the mood to find something new, vintage, locally made, or even a gift for someone else, these three shops have you completely covered. Now that I’ve shared where to shop, let’s move on to where to eat.
EATS/TREATS
Over the Counter Cafe.
My partner and I stumbled upon this café for brunch a few weeks ago (not during this visit), but I HAD to include it because it’s just that good. This tiny, hole-in-the-wall café is perfect for your Millcreek tourist day. They serve all-day breakfast, the fluffiest, most delicious pancakes, juicy burgers, and, if you’re feeling adventurous, they even have house-made kombucha. This place is iconic in the most low-key, local way.
Roots Cafe
If you’re craving a more cozy café vibe (rather than diner-style like Over the Counter), I highly recommend Roots Cafe SLC, which is conveniently located right next door to The Old Flamingo. You can shop and eat! I can confidently say I had one of the best iced mochas I’ve ever tried here; the roast was perfectly balanced with just the right hint of mocha. They also offer pastries, specialty sodas, and some really solid food options. I’m already planning my next visit because the soup menu looks delicious!
I’m always open to more recommendations for this area. I only have two go-to food spots for now, but we all know I love adding new places to my list.
